Attending My Wee Baby Sister's Wedding

This past weekend, my family and I were whisked away out of state to put together and attend my baby sister's wedding.
Let me tell you-- it was a lot. I love my sister, but since this was my first ever wedding attendance, let alone for someone so close to me, I had greatly underestimated just how stressful it would be to pull this all off because ultimately, I just wanted my little precious baby-waby of a sister to feel like her day was the most perfect special day in the world.
Despite all that, it was such a special thing to witness my sister in such an adult situation.
I don't know if anyone else, but other oldest sisters can relate, but when I look at my baby siblings, all I see are their little baby heads. I see their Olly's (a stuffed doll my youngest sister used to sneak into her tiny purse at church and to my mother's dismay, pop her head out so she could watch the sermon), their head scratches (that my brother would demand by placing my hand onto his tiny little head while he laid there sucking his fingers, head nestled in my lap), or their incredibly cute toothy grins (that my middle sister sported until she had to get headgear and spent years in braces.) While in numeral ages we aren't that far apart, I was raised as their elder and my memory has placed them as such. So to see them reach such adult milestones always sobers me up and reminds me of how old we are getting, but then also reminds me of how much things do still stay the same.
I reconnected with my oldest sister on my technical step-dad's side (but he's had me since about eight months old so he's my dad with no question) and she and I both agreed that despite our baby sister getting married, when she walked down that aisle with her new wife, all we saw was our little baby six year old in that grin and ultimately, she will always be our baby.
And as the weekend wore on, pre and post wedding, there were so many little moments that reminded me of that fact.
When my sister showed me around her new city that she lived in...
When both my sisters would laugh or say something and I'd ask what and they'd say in unison "nothing!!" with such suspicion...
When me and my middle sister had to get my baby sister dressed for the wedding and so she sat while I brushed her hair and then giggled as we stuffed her shirt down her pants so the lines would be smooth...
This weekend was stressful! I don't know if my other siblings are allowed to get married after all of this... but, those moments were special to me and I'm glad I got to see her have her fairytale wedding.
Until next time...
